Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Holiday laziness prevented me from commenting earlier, but now I really have to see it through, because this is such a fantastic album. First of all, it's well beyond the usual prog standard. Moreover, Damon Shulman activates the heritage of his father Phil and his uncles Ray and Derek more decisively than ever, putting it into a sublime contemporary context.

Behaviour 03:57
So you think that nothing matters And you feel it Your optimism isn't shattered Well why would it be Both artificial and essential Psychology Context is formed in a mind We decide So you feel a lack of purpose How can this be For the seeds of all creation Lay deep in your mind And there are forms resolution What will you find So when all is said and done here Your credo breathes Formed in choice or inculcation Sifting through Is the measure of your value Behaviour

Old songs old times False teeth and tales Flows as it flows Grows and it slows Echoes echo Flows as it flows We like to think and think we bring it on Think is the point but now the point is gone We like to think and think we bring it on What is the point it's gone it's on it's gone This demeanor seems photogenic From the soundbite to the polemic Save the banks and then save the planet Find a forum then try to ban it Righteous flower feel that power Say the words but never feel them Never be them Never mean them This the function of dysfunction Prod the monster of confusion Feed the leader to the people This the hope and this the conscience Now Flows as it flows Grows as it slows Echoes echo Flows and it flows Echoes echo

about

M.M.I.N.D

The concept:

M.M.I.N.D is an acronym for Mass Mania Induced Nervous Disorder.

General Synopsis

This (M.M.I.N.D) is an assumed or artificial terminology used to adduce or posit concepts through the written material as a representation of my own observations and perceptions in relation to people’s or group behaviours or actions on others and how this impacts the individual mind. My mind?

Ultimately, I suggest that this work is mostly about vulnerability and the constant desire for assurance and comfort in body and mind.

Chapters

Each chapter, piece, song or track relates to the apparent effects of group actions and behaviours on the individual mind. There is also reference to the apparent inextricable link between mind and body as defined by Gilbert Ryle in his book ‘The Concept of Mind’ which has as its fulcrum a pejorative critique of Traditional Cartesian Dualism as postulated by Rene Decartes in the 1600s and was accepted as apposite understanding of mind mechanics for some time.

There is no particular thesis or activism suggested within the material however, it does tend to convey favour for personal autonomy. The idea of governments influenced by personality cults and technocratic interests are not considered propitious for either groups or individuals in this work.

There is also the postulation that democracy is easy to manipulate through populism and personality and therefore perhaps societal governance should be a dull and mundane process of administration dealing with a population’s consensus of policy and not of partisan factions. It has been suggested that generally party politics return unsatisfactory or disappointing results for all aside from the tumult of victory and triumphalism which appears generally to be an invidious process.

So, the suggestion is that personality cults and staunch tribal allegiances appear to create an obfuscated collective ethos and the stigmatisation of peripheral individual expression whether it is intellectual, technical, spiritual or biological. The idea is then posited that society may be able to devote more time and responsibility to constructive and compassionate outcomes with policy driven civil servants rather than populist personality driven factions promoting the interests of a few already privileged plutocrats and their chosen accomplices, the hope always being that we can create societies that potentially produce more opportunity for joy and enthusiasm in a productive and peaceful life whatever the personal volitions of the individual.

I guess, at first material of this disposition may appear bleak and judgmental but there is in fact, a constant narrative of hope, and acceptance that observes each passing generation tends to bring both benevolent and deleterious aspects into society. As the older generations influence fades new generations filter the constructs accordingly, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse and sometimes with no perceptible effect at all. Existence is a slow and laborious process and a power dynamic, but with each societal error or horror that occurs there is often enough appropriate reflection and resolution within populations to make correct the failures and to accept and encourage rational, judicious developments to enable and support enlightenment, insight and a comfortable existence for all.

Of course, there will always be aberrant individuals and horrific events in any societal system which, is observed in this piece by asking questions and making observations rather than toying with dogma.

But, essentially this is a piece of music and words intended to entertain and stimulate the senses of anyone who cares to listen. In fact, whatever opinion is expressed within, there is never any desire for a deleterious effect either side of the conjecture. The music reflects the words and the words reflect the music.

So, welcome and thank you for taking the time to listen to my work.
